We have spent the last 11 years developing our venue into a creative space available to hire. Let us cater for your special occasion and make use of our fantastic facilities within a home from home setting but without the washing up! Offering home-cooked food, specially selected wines, Thornbridge beers, cocktails and other hand-picked beverages our bar will keep your guests glasses full, allowing you to relax and enjoy your celebration.
Whether you want a quick catch up with friends over tea & cake or host a celebration for up to 50 people you need look no further than Designate @ The Gate.

CELEBRATIONS
Never before have people been more ready to get together and celebrate. Far too many birthdays, anniversaries, engagements and weddings, to name but a few, have been lost over the past few years. So, who's up for a PARTY?
We have the perfect venue for friends and family of every generation to reunite and make up for lost time.
Our facilities and service are second to none and we can offer the bespoke details that others can't. Let us host your celebration and we will take care of every aspect allowing you the time to make memories.
HEN DO'S
We can offer a variety of activities to those wanting to celebrate their last days of freedom! Combine food, drink, crafts, or bring your own entertainment we have the perfect environment for a relaxed, private get together.
Why not make a night of it and include a cocktail making class. After a shot of something to kickstart the evening we'll go on to make two cocktails to be enjoyed by the fire or in the garden if the weather permits! Our onsite accommodation allows for up to 18 guests within 3 ensuite rooms so not far to stumble off to bed!
FOOD & CRAFTS
We have been making our own range of interior accessories and giftware since 2000, supplying shops and galleries throughout the UK. We can now offer a craft workshop to our guests for groups of 6 or more. There are a number of options available depending on ages and skill levels. These can be done as a singular activity or combined with an afternoon tea or even a 3 course meal. Contact us for all available options.

MEETING SPACE
Meeting rooms no longer have to be dull and uninspiring. Our venue can be hired to provide space for informal groups or business gatherings whilst still offering areas to use during breaks or to eat. We offer various catering options suitable for all occasions / budgets and, when the weather allows, our outside spaces can also be utilised.
Facilities such as bottomless tea & coffee, free wifi, microphone and projector are all available by request.
POP UP EVENTS
Have you ever wanted to create your own event but struggled to find a suitable venue? There are numerous occasions when someone might want to bring people together. It may be to celebrate, to promote a product, brand or service, to perform, play or discuss.
Our spaces are creative and fun making them the ideal place to host an event that attendees will remember and share.
We can help with the organisation, promoting, catering and refreshments or leave you to it, the choice is yours!
KIDS PARTIES
Does the thought of organising childrens parties fill you with fear? Combining various activities and games we have a number of party packages to choose from that cater for a range of ages. With everything included you can sit back and relax with a tea, coffee or something a little stronger! Craft activities provide the contents of party bags and our beach garden offers a welcome dose of fresh air and the chance to stretch those little legs. The 2 hours fly by with all party goers thoroughly entertained!

OUR STORY...
Friends from the age of 11, Andy and Kirsty Field started their Designate journey in the year 2000. From the beginning their driving force was a shared love of art, design and crafts.
Over the last 20 years Designate has evolved into a world of handmade creations. From a unique range of interior accessories and giftware to being hosts, planners and caterers of bespoke, home from home parties and events. Based in Matlock on the edge of the beautiful Peak District National Park, Kirsty & Andy have created unique spaces for you to enjoy life’s little pleasures.
